“…the Lord will watch over your coming and going
both now and forevermore.” (Psalm 121:8)
Where are you right now? What time is it?
The Lord is watching over you now.
And if you look back, looking as far as you can remember, the same is true. God’s sovereignty applies. If you look ahead, as far as you can imagine, that’s still true. Wherever you are, whatever is happening, God cares.
There aren’t that many songs we can sing in any circumstance or mood, but Psalm 121 is one of them. It’s true now and forevermore that God is watching over you, and that this is always good news. It’s worship when we’re weary to say:
“I’m tired, Lord. I lift my eyes up to the hills. Where does my help come from?” and to remember, and remember, and remember again. Our help comes from the Maker of Heaven and Earth. He will not let us slip from the path He has laid out for us. He will watch over us and our loved ones constantly, without wanting or needing to look away. Caring consistently. He will be our refuge, our help, our sustainer and provider, day and night, He will work good out of all things and keep us safe in Him eternally, all our lives, both now and forevermore!
What else can you add as you look to God in prayer and worship?
