First and Second: Perspective On What Matters Most (Matthew 22:36-40)

Fearing the Responsibility of Writing

Our neighborhood is full of spooky decor this time of year. Sometimes I wonder what it would look like if we put symbols of the things we’re *actually* afraid of in our front yards instead. Mine would include…anything I’ve ever published!

Ever fear something because you feel more responsible for the outcome than you possibly can be?

I had the privilege of sharing about this type of fear on Stephanie Miller’s “Live & Create Transformed” recently.

Here’s my favorite bit:

“I’d been mixing up my responsibility with God’s.

All that pressure, all those expectations that I placed on myself every time I shared my words, were presumptuous on my part. I was presuming that I had the power to make a mess of others’ hearts and lives by sharing my words, and therefore presuming I had more responsibility than I actually could for the impact of each word.”
