2022 Good List

What a year it’s been! As the new year approaches, I’m following Laura Wifler’s lead and sharing a list of some of the good stuff of 2022.

  • Finishing a 2-year chronological Bible plan; Revelation at Christmas time!! He has come, and He is coming again!
  • Book club with my friends Shannon, Miriam, Abigail and Amelia
  • Reading more fiction (The Extraordinary Deaths of Mrs. Kip was probably my favorite!)
  • See God’s power in my weakness more
  • Shamelessly reading more books written for 7-11 year olds (Alvin Ho slays me)
  • Friendships with our neighbors
  • Matt and Indy’s hilarious relationship
  • Serving in 4th grade Sunday School and getting to see the kids grow
  • Writing more long-form content behind the scenes
  • Getting to learn from brothers and sisters in Christ in the course of everyday life
  • Meeting our nephew!
  • Road trip “tour of friends” last winter
  • My job and the people I get to serve alongside. It’s a privilege every day! (And pretty awesome getting to work with Matt now too!)
  • Our church! Love New City more than I can express. God provides
  • Annual quick trips to the mountains and beach
  • Clear, only-God answers to simple, everyday prayers
  • Having string lights up in our living room year-round
  • Rediscovering a love of history
  • The ridiculous songs Matt makes up
  • The notes app on my phone
  • Discovering All Creatures Great and Small
  • Realizing you can be both fiercely practical and entirely whimsical
  • Our first overseas adventure together! And getting to share part of it with Avery, Lesley, and dear UK colleagues and friends!
  • Reading The Once and Future King while exploring the UK
  • Refinishing a bookshelf
  • Memorizing 1 Peter 1 and reflecting on the imperishable
  • Visits from friends, Including the Cilla!
  • Board games with Matt and with friends (some faves this year: Azul, Splendor, Ticket to Ride Europe)
  • Trying carrot cake and Turkey burgers (not together, although…)
  • TGCW and getting to see so many sisters in Christ at once!
  • Judah and the Lion and Ben Rector’s Joy of Music album on repeat
  • Zoom, FB Chat, Alexa…all the devices for chatting with all the loved ones far away
  • 56 books read this year (and there’s still time!)
  • Being home with Matt and Indy
